Stroke Secondary Prevention Toolkit
The Stroke Prevention Tool Kit is designed to support the implementation of the Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care for prevention. Using the Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care (Updated 2008), the Tool Kit will provide members of the interprofessional health care team with the foundational knowledge required to care for patients who have recently had a stroke or TIA or have been identified as being at high risk. The Tool Kit includes an overview and administrative tools for educators, a series of PowerPoint presentations with speakers’ notes, and a number of handouts. Click here to access the Toolkit.
The Canadian Stroke Strategy is pleased to provide a new resource to support implementation of Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care. A Guide to the Implementation of Stroke Unit Care (or Stroke Unit Guide) will help direct the establishment of new stroke units and the enhancement of exiting stroke units across Canada. Developed by the Canadian Stroke Strategy Best Practice and Standards Working Group and members of the acute care and rehabilitation task groups, the guide draws on the expertise of healthcare professionals from across the country with significant contributions from British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. It defines and explains the components needed for acute stroke units, stroke rehabilitation units, and integrated stroke units. Click here to view the guide.
